Terms of Service
This English version is a translation provided for reference. The Japanese version is authoritative: if the two differ, the Japanese version prevails. Read the Japanese version
Article 1 (The service)
The service translates English documents uploaded by the customer into Japanese using our translation system (which uses AI), checks them automatically, and provides the translation with a certificate of translation issued in our name. Translation and checking are carried out automatically by our system.
Where parts of a document are recorded as images, such as in scanned or photographed documents, and our checks cannot fully match them, we ask the customer to compare them with the original before we translate. We translate based on what the customer has confirmed, and the certificate of translation states this. If the customer does not confirm by the deadline (48 hours from our request), or answers that what we read differs from the original, we cancel the order and do not charge for it.
Article 2 (What the certificate of translation covers)
The certificate of translation is our statement that the attached translation is a faithful translation of the contents of the original document. We are not a translation body with any official accreditation or certification, and the certificate of translation does not replace notarisation or legalisation (such as an apostille). We do not certify that the original document is genuine or that what it states is true.
Article 3 (Acceptance by the receiving office)
Whether a translation and certificate of translation are accepted is up to the office they are submitted to. We do not guarantee acceptance. The service cannot be used where the office requires a translation by a specific translator or body (for example, a translation of a driving licence itself).
Article 4 (Prohibited uses)
The following are prohibited: uploading forged or altered documents; uploading documents you are not entitled to submit (documents that are not your own and whose holder has not consented); and any other use for a purpose that breaks the law. If you order a translation of someone else’s document, obtain that person’s consent, including to the handling of any special care-required personal information in it (such as criminal records or medical history).
Article 5 (Payment, refunds and translation errors)
When you order, we place a hold on your payment method for the price (authorisation). The payment is completed when we issue the certificate of translation. If an order does not pass our automatic checks and we cannot issue a certificate of translation, we do not charge for it and we release the hold (if the payment had already been completed, we refund it in full). The same applies to scanned or photographed documents if you do not confirm what we read within 48 hours of our request, or if you tell us it differs from the original. If you tell us about a translation error within 7 days of delivery, we will look into it and issue a corrected version or refund you in full. If you contact us after 7 days, we will still look into it and respond. This article does not limit any rights you have under the law.
Article 6 (Limitation of liability)
Except in cases of our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, our liability is limited to the price of the order concerned.
Article 7 (Governing law and jurisdiction)
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction, as the court of first instance, over any dispute relating to the service.
